Boggo Road and Southern Area construction update - April and May 2025
Construction of the new Boggo Road station is progressing with the roof canopy now visible from Joe Baker Street. Scaffold from the station structure is being removed as all external walls are now complete.
Underground, ventilation and air conditioning work is underway, with internal rooms and back of house areas taking shape. All platform screen doors and escalators are installed, with passenger lift shafts completed ready for lift delivery and installation.
Work to construct Yamma Bridge is continuing, with concrete pours ongoing for the eastern approach. Fit-out works including overhead canopy, installation of lifts, lighting and handrails continue in 2025.

Boggo Road construction
Boggo Road to Joe Baker Street
The below works are ongoing and features both day and night work:
- Formwork, concrete pours, steel fixing and steel reinforcement within the station box and above ground level
- Concrete pours requiring the use of compressors, concrete pumps, agitators, concrete vibrators and temporary intermittent stop-and-hold traffic arrangements
- Delivery of equipment and oversized materials via Boggo Road, Joe Baker Street and Peter Doherty Street requiring stop and hold traffic arrangements, movement of plant and crane lifts
- Mechanical and electrical service fit-out within the station box and delivery and installation of permanent structural steel, blockwork and tiling
- Excavation adjacent to the Eastern Busway requiring site boundary barrier adjustments and partial lane closures.
Rail corridor work – May 2025:
Construction activities will be carried out within the rail corridor between Dutton Park and Boggo Road/Park Road stations, and on the Yamma Bridge from 2am Saturday 24 to 11:55pm Sunday 25 May 2025. Further information will be provided closer to work commencing, where required.

Southern Portal construction
Kent Street to Railway Terrace
The below works are ongoing and features both day and night work:
- Crane lifts, movement of large plant and machinery including delivery of equipment and materials via Kent Street and Railway Terrace, requiring intermittent road and shared user path closures
- Concreting work to close the temporary materials delivery area
- Installation of rail infrastructure within the rail corridor connecting into the dive structure
- Mechanical and electrical service fit-out including installation of cable trays, cable pulling and service walkways.

Peter Doherty to Kent Street
The below works are ongoing and features both day and night work:
- Ongoing works including deck concrete pours, installation of safety frames and screens, overhead canopy segments, and handrails
- Concrete pours requiring concrete pumps, agitators and vibrators
- External painting of the bridge requiring sandblasting equipment, scaffolding and containment sheeting, and changed traffic conditions
- Delivery of equipment and materials via Boggo Road, Joe Baker and Peter Doherty Street, as well as Kent Street and PA Hospital access road
- Intermittent road and shared user pathway closures on surrounding streets
- Landscaping.
General construction hours:
- Boggo Road station construction hours are 24 hours Monday to Friday and 6:30am to 6:30pm on Saturdays unless advised
- Southern Tunnel Portal and pedestrian and cycle bridge construction is undertaken 24 hours, seven days a week. This includes work during weekend rail corridor closures.
What to expect during construction:
- Increased levels of noise, dust and vibration
- Construction vehicles travelling to and from the worksite via Boggo Road, Joe Baker Street and Peter Doherty Street, Rawnsley Street, Railway Terrace, Dutton Street and Kent Street
- Delivery of materials and equipment to the worksite at night
- Extended concrete pours scheduled to start early in the morning
