Charlotte Street – overnight lane closures

From 6:30pm Monday 29 June to 6:30am Saturday 4 July 2026, lane closures will be in place on Charlotte Street at the Albert Street intersection to facilitate road resurfacing works associated with the Albert Street Green Spine.

Work details

  • Implementing traffic control arrangements
  • Road resurfacing at the Charlotte Street and Albert Street intersection
  • Use of machinery including road milling machines, trucks, earthmoving and roller equipment, asphalt paving and line marking machines.
  • Increased movements of light vehicles, lighting towers and hand held tools and generators.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts

  • Lane closures on Charlotte Street
  • The Charlotte Street Uptown carparking exit ramp will be closed both nights.
  • The taxi rank located on Charlotte Street will be closed for three nights during these works.
  • The pedestrian crossings on Charlotte Street will be closed from 6:30pm to 6:30am with detours in place (shown on map below).
  • Loading zones and parking within the temporary works area on Charlotte Street will be closed at night during the works.
  • There will be no impact to Charlotte Street Bus Stop 51 (ID000051).

What to expect

  • Night-time lane closures will be in place on Charlotte Street, with at least one lane maintained at all times. Reduced speed limits will apply
  • You may experience an increase in noise and lighting, as well as odour from the road base materials.
  • Access will be maintained to all businesses, some stop and holds may occur.
  • Please follow directional signage and traffic control when travelling through the area.

Work hours

Work will be undertaken at night from 6:30pm to 6:30am. Work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.
