Work details

  • Removal of the concrete slab and foundations, primarily through the use of saw cutting.
  • Cut concrete will be broken up and loaded onto trucks by excavators and removed from site.
  • Jack hammering may be used at times during both the cutting and removal of the concrete.
  • Truck movements throughout the day and night to remove materials from the worksite.

Traffic and pedestrian changes

  • The pedestrian footpath in front of Lot 1 will remain closed.
  • The closure of the eastbound lane on Mary Street will remain in place. Vehicles travelling eastbound cannot pass through the work area.
  • Intermittent lane, road and footpath closures on Mary Street.
  • Access to properties on Mary Street will be maintained.
  • Intermittent footpath closures between Mary and Charlotte streets.

Reducing impact during removal works

During concrete slab removal, every effort will be made to minimise the impacts on businesses, residents and the community. Measures include:

  • Majority of concrete demolition work to occur between 7:00am and 10:00pm.
  • Use of water trucks and other on-site dust suppression devices including hoses and/or misting.
  • Dedicated road sweepers to perform routine and additional cleaning when required on-site.
