Charlotte Street - temporary lane closures until late 2026
From late March to late 2026, intermittent night-time lane closures will be in place on Charlotte Street at the Albert Street intersection between 6:30pm and 6:30am to support ongoing utility, service and Green Spine footpath works. During this time, vehicle access will be maintained with a reduction in lanes only.
Work details
- Installation of site fencing, hoarding and road safety barriers for lane closures within the work area as required.
- Utility and service work which may include the use of machinery including excavators, concrete saws, generators, vacuum trucks, light vehicles, lighting units, ventilation fans, hand tools.
- Demolishing asphalt, concrete, kerbs and excavation.
- Installing new drainage, kerbs, concrete slabs and paving.
- Line marking and reinstatement of the road surface.
Traffic and pedestrian impacts
- Lane closures on a section of the Charlotte Street and Albert Street intersection between 6:30pm and 6:30am as equired. During this time, work will only take place in one or two lanes at a time. Please follow the direction of traffic control and signage. For further detail, please refer to map below.
- Vehicle access will be maintained with one or multiple lanes remaining open.
- Footpath closure on a section of Albert and Charlotte Street intersection as per map below.
- Pedestrians and cyclists when required. Please follow associated detour signage and traffic control if required.
- Access to properties on Charlotte Street and Albert Street will be maintained under the guidance of traffic control.

Intermittent lane closures will be required on Charlotte Street between 6:30pm and 6:30am until late 2026.
What to expect
- Traffic control and signage in place to assist
- Temporary vehicle and pedestrian detours.
- Increased truck movements and traffic control on the Charlotte Street and Albert Street intersection.
- Increase in noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting.
- Increase in construction workers and vehicle movements in and out of the area.
- Potential impacts to existing services (e.g. power, water, gas). Affected properties will be notified if required.
Work hours
Work will occur nightly from 6:30pm to 6:30am while the lanes are closed
All works will occur in line with required traffic permits and Project Conditions.
