Roma Street station - Acoustic shed and concrete slab removal
From mid-March 2026, for approximately eight weeks, works will be undertaken to remove the acoustic shed and concrete slab, located at the corner of Roma Street and Parkland Boulevard.
Work details
The following activities will be undertaken as part of shed removal works:
- Steel sections will be separated using oxy cutters, rattle guns, concrete saws and shears
- Sections will be removed by lifting them with a mobile crane and loading them into trucks
The following activities will be undertaken as part of slab removal works:
- Removal of the concrete slab, using excavators with hammer attachments and handheld jackhammers
- Broken concrete will be loaded onto trucks and removed from site for disposal.
Traffic and pedestrian changes
- Intermittent lane closures on the eastbound lane of Roma Street and Parkland Boulevard
- Access to Roma Street station, Brisbane Coach Terminal and Parkland Boulevard will be maintained at all times under traffic control
- Pedestrian access will be maintained through the work area.
- Please follow all signage in other work areas throughout the precinct, as detours may be in place.

Work hours
Work will occur during both day and night shifts.
Night shift, where required, will occur between 6:30pm and 6:30am, Monday to Sunday, due to traffic permit requirements.
All work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.
Reducing impact during removal works
During shed and slab removal activities, every effort will be made to minimise the impacts on businesses, residents and commuters.
Measures include:
- Use of water trucks and other dust suppression devices including hoses and/or misting
- Dedicated road sweepers to perform routine and additional cleaning when required on-site.
What to expect
- Increased noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment including but not limited to rattle guns, concrete saws, shears, oxy cutters and excavators.
- An increase in construction workers and vehicles
- Intermittent lane closures on eastbound lane of Roma Street and Parkland Boulevard.
