Main Street – temporary footpath and lane closure
From Monday 22 September 2025 for up to two weeks, a footpath and lane closure will be in place on Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets to enable installation of underground utility services and reinstatement of the footpath and road.
Construction activities
- Installing traffic management including traffic barriers and detour directional signage
- Site investigation to confirm the location of current underground services
- Excavation and construction of new permanent service lines and new service pits
- Realigning existing service lines
- Kerb installation and footpath reinstatement
Construction activities are subject to weather, unforeseeable conditions and approvals.
What to expect
- Day and night work involving excavation and construction of new underground service lines and pits
- Use of equipment such as excavators, generators, light vehicles, lighting units, vac trucks, ventilation fans, concrete trucks and hand tools
- You may experience increased noise, lighting, and increase in workforce outside the station site.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts
- The western footpath and adjacent traffic lane on Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets will be temporarily closed
- Pedestrians will be directed to use the eastern footpath of Main Street
- Vehicles traffic will be maintained in both directions
- During these traffic changes, detours and traffic control will be in place to assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists
- Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times
- Footpath and lane closures will not occur during events at the Gabba.
