Albert Street pedestrian gantry night-time closures
From Monday 13 July 2026, for up to one week, there will be night-time closures of the pedestrian gantry on Albert Street between Charlotte and Mary streets. These closures are required to facilitate utility works located within the gantry.
Work details
Work will involve:
- Implementing traffic control arrangements.
- Installing fencing to close the pedestrian gantry.
- Utility works to make adjustments to service pits including demolition and replacement of concrete paving within the pedestrian gantry including saw cutting, jack hammering and concrete pours.
- Use of a small excavator, saw cutters, jack hammers and hand held tools.
Traffic and pedestrian impacts
- Nightly closures of the Albert Street pedestrian gantry between Charlotte and Mary streets, from 7.00pm to 6.00am.
- During this time, pedestrians will be detoured via Charlotte, Mary, Edward and George streets.
- Existing footpath closures on Mary Street outside Lot 1 and Lot 2 will remain in place.
- Traffic control and signage in place to assist.
- Access to properties and businesses will be maintained.

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of this work on businesses, residents and commuters.
Work hours
Work will be undertaken at night between 7.00pm and 6.00am for up to one week. Work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.
