Albert Street pedestrian gantry night-time closures
From Monday 7 September 2026, for up to two weeks, the pedestrian gantry on Albert Street between Charlotte and Mary streets will be closed at night. These closures are required to safely remove the gantry, which is no longer required for Lot 1 station building works.
Work details
Work will involve:
- Implementing traffic control arrangements.
- Installing fencing to close the pedestrian gantry.
- Use of large mobile equipment located on the Lot 2 site. This equipment will lift sections of the pedestrian gantry and load onto trucks for removal from site.
- Use of rattle guns, hammers and hand held tools.
Traffic and pedestrian impacts
- Nightly closures of the Albert Street pedestrian gantry between Charlotte and Mary streets, from 7.00pm to 6.00am
- During this time, pedestrians will be detoured via Charlotte, Mary, Edward and George streets.
- Existing footpath closures on Mary Street outside Lot 1 and Lot 2 will remain in place.
- Please follow the direction of traffic control and signage when travelling through the area.

- Increased dust, noise, vibration and lighting and workforce associated with construction.

- Increased truck movements into and out of the Lot 2 site.
Work hours
Work will be undertaken at night between 7.00pm and 6.00am for up to two weeks. Work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.
