Green Spine – Pedestrian access update
Work is progressing to construct the new public realm on Albert Street between Elizabeth and Mary streets.
From mid-July 2025, pedestrian, vehicle and cycle changes will be required to extend the work area next to Elizabeth Street (refer to map below). This arrangement will remain in place until late August 2025.
Work has been staged to maintain access to businesses and properties. Work will be carried out during day and night, seven days a week, subject to wet weather and unforeseen circumstances.
During night shift (6.30pm – 6.30am), there will be no direct pedestrian access from the Elizabeth Street intersection to the northern corner of Albert Street. Access between the footpaths on either side of Albert Street will be via a new temporary pathway through the work area. Access is also available via Albert Lane and Elizabeth Lane.
Construction of the Green Spine between Elizabeth Street and Charlotte Street is expected to be completed in late 2025.
