Green Spine update – Charlotte and Mary Streets

From Monday 2 February 2026 for up to eight weeks, a new work area will be established on Albert Street between Mary and Elizabeth streets (refer to map below).

Work will be carried out during day and night, seven days a week, subject to weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Work has been staged to maintain access to businesses and properties. Access to businesses will remain open during business operating hours.

Construction Activities

• Installing barriers and adjusting existing hoarding
• Removing and installing street furniture
• Locating underground services, including saw cutting, core drilling, pot holing and hydro excavation
• Demolishing asphalt, concrete, kerbs and excavation
• Installing new drainage, kerbs, concrete slab and paving
• Installing lighting and traffic signals

What to Expect

• Changes to pedestrian access during day and night
• Traffic control and signage in place to assist
• Work occurring during both day and night shifts
• Increased noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
• Potential impacts to existing services (e.g., power, water, gas). Affected properties will be notified if required
