Albert Street night-time footpath closures - August 2025

From mid-2025 until early 2026, the footpath in front of the northern station entrance (Lot 3) will continue to be intermittently closed at night between 6:30pm and 6:30am. These closures are required to carry out fit out work on the northern station entrance (Lot 3) and continue construction of the new Albert Street public realm (Green Spine).

Work details

Work will involve:

  • Implementing traffic control arrangements to establish a safe work area and pedestrian detour
  • Installing scaffolding within the site
  • Use of machinery and equipment including franna cranes, generators, elevated work platforms, excavators, vacuum excavators, concrete saws, lighting units and hand tools.

Work hours

Work will be undertaken intermittently between 6:30pm and 6:30am and is expected to be complete in early 2026.

Work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions. In the event of unsuitable conditions, work will be undertaken on the next available night.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts

  • Intermittent night-time closures of the Albert Street footpath in front of Lot 3 site, please refer to map below
  • During this work, pedestrians will be detoured to the footpath on the opposite side of Albert Street or via other pedestrian detours as signed
  • Access to properties will be maintained throughout the work, and traffic control will be in place to assist
  • Additional short-term footpath closures may be required intermittently at other times during the day for overhead lifts or deliveries.

What to expect:

  • Intermittent and temporary pedestrian detours
  • Increase in potential noise and worksite lighting
  • Increase in personnel carrying out works.
