Yeerongpilly station to reopen to the public

A modern and accessible Yeerongpilly station will reopen to the public on Monday February 17.

The revitalised station is one of seven between Dutton Park and Salisbury on Brisbane’s southside that is being rebuilt through the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority.

The station has been designed in collaboration with the Delivery Authority’s Accessibility Reference Group and other key stakeholders, and includes several key innovations to improve accessibility for customers.

The station features raised platforms to reduce the vertical platform step gap, improved shelter from entrances to platforms, dedicated accessible parking and kiss ‘n’ ride bays and upgraded station entry points, while 80 per cent of covered areas at the station including Hearing Aid Loop (HAL) coverage.

Cross River Rail Delivery Authority CEO Graeme Newton said the station has been designed to cater for all passengers.

“Beyond Cross River Rail’s core scope of tunnels and underground stations, the Delivery Authority is also responsible for a raft of other supporting projects and activities, including rebuilding seven surface stations on Brisbane’s southside,” Mr Newton said.

“These stations, including Yeerongpilly, have been designed with accessibility and functionality the focus and we are looking forward to seeing the local community make the most of a modern and accessible station.

“Thank you to the community for its patience while we deliver these new, accessible stations.”

Yeerongpilly will be the fifth station to reopen on the city’s southside after Yeronga, Fairfield, Rocklea and Dutton Park stations, with works continuing at Moorooka and Salisbury stations.

While major construction has been completed, there will be some minor construction works ongoing at the station.
