Gantry modifications on corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets
On Thursday 6 February and Friday 7 February between 8:00pm and 4:00am, modifications will be made to a gantry located on the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets, near the northern station entrance (Lot 3). To safely carry out these works, temporary road, pedestrian and cycle changes on the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets will be in place.
Traffic changes will involve:
- Closure of section of footpath located near the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets.
- Closure of one single traffic lane on Albert Street near the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets.
- Closure of a section of the CityLink Cycleway on Elizabeth Street located near the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets. Cyclist traffic will be managed under traffic control.
- Access to properties on Albert Street and Elizabeth Street will be maintained.
- Traffic control will be in place to assist motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
These temporary traffic changes are necessary to facilitate gantry modifications and allow for the safe lifting of equipment and materials over the work area. Work will be carried out at night to minimise impacts on local businesses in this high-foot-traffic area, weather permitting.
The gantry is required to meet permit conditions for northern station entrance construction and will remain in place throughout 2025. Modification work to the gantry will involve the use of a franna crane, generators, lighting units, elevated work platforms (EWP), hand tools and steel installation.
