Changes to evening services

Buses replace trains between Northgate and Sandgate stations from 7:45pm to last service, each evening:

  • Monday 2 to Thursday 5 February
  • Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 February
  • Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 February
  • Monday 23 to Thursday 26 February

Weekend track closures

Buses replace trains between Northgate and Sandgate stations:

  • Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February
  • Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February
  • Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February
  • Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March

Travel information

During these closures, timetabled railbuses will replace trains between Northgate and Sandgate stations to get you where you need to be.

Railbus R348 will stop at all stations between Northgate and Sandgate stations and will depart approximately every 30 minutes.

Shorncliffe line trains will continue to run between Northgate and Roma Street stations.

Please allow extra travel time and plan your journey to find your fastest travel option.

Bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on railbuses.

Why?

The Shorncliffe line is the pilot line for testing a new digital signalling system, the European Train Control System (ETCS). ETCS is progressively being installed to key parts of the South East Queensland rail network, including in the Cross River Rail tunnels and on the Gold Coast line between Beenleigh and Varsity Lakes stations.

During this period, you may see trains travelling on the Shorncliffe line and stopping at some stations. These trains are undergoing important testing and are not in service.
