Watermain relocation – Pimpama station

Construction of the new Pimpama station access road is being undertaken as an early works package. The works commenced in late-2021 and includes a new signalised intersection at Bedford Road and Old Pacific Highway, access road into the site, associated drainage works and connecting pedestrian and cycle pathways.

Details of work

On 22 June 2022 (weather permitting), works will be undertaken to install a temporary diversion for the watermain located in the road shoulder on Old Pacific Highway, adjacent to Bedford Road, as part of the Pimpama Station early works.

The temporary diversion will be in place for several months while the existing watermain is removed and replaced with a new watermain along the Old Pacific Highway.

Due to the nature of the works, the watermain diversion will be undertaken at night. More details can be found below.

What to expect

Preparation of a safe work area which will include installation of temporary traffic barriers along the road shoulder of Old Pacific Highway and light towers over the work zone.

The works will be undertaken at night when use of the water infrastructure is lower. City of Gold Coast Council will notify residents in advance of any disruptions to water services during these works.

During these works, residents will see an increase of workers, vehicles and mobile equipment in the area.

Please see map over the page for more details regarding the site area. We appreciate your patience while we undertake these works.

Work hours

Works will be undertaken between 7pm to 5am on 22 June 2022. The work is subject to weather conditions and will be undertaken the following evening if required.
