Early investigations Merrimac Station

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is continuing with planning for three new rail stations on the Gold Coast Line at Pimpama, Helensvale North and Merrimac. GHDWoodhead has been engaged to undertake early investigations and prepare the detailed design for construction.

Early investigations are scheduled to commence in January 2021 and will continue throughout 2021. Investigations will include geotechnical works, survey, utility identification and environmental studies including heritage, flora and fauna.

These investigations will be used to further refine the station designs. Further community consultation on the station design will be undertaken in 2021.

Early investigations

Early investigations at the Merrimac station site are planned to commence from January 2021 and will involve:

  • Geotechnical investigations using a truck-mounted drill rig.
  • Survey and identification of existing utility services using a vacuum excavation truck.
  • Vegetation clearing on the east and west sides of the rail corridor
  • Temporary traffic changes on Gooding Drive including lane and footpath closures between 7am and 5pm.

Please see the below map for more details regarding the work areas and traffic changes.

There will be investigations occurring along Gooding Drive and in the parklands that are adjacent to Lakeland Villas. This will require single lane closures on Gooding Drive in both directions.

What to expect

Residents will notice an increase in workers and vehicles in the area. Traffic management will be in place to minimise impacts to pedestrians and motorists.

We appreciate your patience while we undertake these works.

Work hours

Standard work times are 6:30am to 6:30pm Monday to Saturday, however work may occur outside of these hours due to traffic permits and safety requirements.
