What’s happening?

Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel across the whole of south east Queensland. But building Cross River Rail means changes to Beenleigh and Gold Coast line train services from Monday 30 August to Sunday 5 September 2021.

This means if you travel on either of these lines, your travel will be impacted on both weekdays and weekends.

There will also be changes to the Cleveland line from Saturday 4 September to 5 September.

To help your business and staff keep moving during this time, please share this flyer at your workplace, which includes the changes to train services and recommended travel options:

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and check Translink journey planner before they travel.

We thank you for your patience during this time as we work on this exciting project for south east Queensland.

Why we need to do this?

Cross River Rail will be undertaking works between Dutton Park and Park Road stations to build the southern tunnel portal. To ensure critical works can be completed safely, the rail tracks between Dutton Park and Park Road stations need to be closed. Due to the scale of the work which needs to be undertaken it cannot be completed over a weekend or even a long weekend.

An intensive period of 24 hours/seven days continuous works will occur to remove and start rebuilding an existing train line for construction of the Southern Tunnel Portal underneath. Construction activities are within close proximity to Railway Terrace and are expected to generate medium to high levels of noise

  • Removal of existing rail infrastructure and ground preparation works
  • Piling and jack hammering
  • Installation of steel and concreting
